Baledindina( Banana Stem) Palya
Ingredients :
- 4-5 cups finely chopped bale dindu (plantain / banana stem) or 1 foot long plantain / banana stem
- Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
- Green chillies - 4-5
- Coriender leaves - 1/4 cup chopped
- Hurigadale / Roasted gram - 1 tsp
- Lemon - 1 /2
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Urd dal - 1/4 tsp
- Channa dal - 1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida
- Remove outer layer of plantain stem , take only the inner stem and wash it thoroughly.Finely chop the plantain stem into small pieces and put it in water to avoid colour change.Cook it in pressure cooker for two whistles.
- Grind grated coconut, green chillies, coriender leaves, hurigadale into coarse powder without adding water.
- In a pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters,add urd dal, channa dal, pinch of asafoetida, cooked plantain stem, turmeric,pinch of salt and mix well. Now add ground powder and adjust salt as per taste and fry for 2-3 minutes and turn off the flame.
- Add 2 tsp of lemon and mix well.Baledindina palya is ready to serve.
