Padavalakayi Beejada Chutney / Snakeguard Seeds Chutney
Ingredients :
- Padavalakayi beeja / Snake guard seeds - 1 cup
- Urd dal - 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Green chilly - 5-6
- Oil - 4-5 tsp
- Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- Cook padavalakayi beeja or snake guard seeds in boiling water for 5 min.Drain the water.
- In a pan, heat 4-5 tsp oil , add mustard seeds , once it starts spluttering , add urd dal and fry it until it turns golden brown.
- Roast chilly with two drops of oil.
- Grind padavalakayi beeja or snake guard seeds,fried mustard and urd dal with oil,roasted chillies and salt to taste into fine paste.
- This chutney tastes awesome with hot rice and ghee and it is good for digestion also.
