Padavalakayi Beejada Chutney / Snakeguard Seeds Chutney

Ingredients : 
  • Padavalakayi beeja / Snake guard seeds - 1 cup
  • Urd dal - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Green chilly - 5-6
  • Oil - 4-5 tsp
  • Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
Method :  
  1. Cook padavalakayi beeja or snake guard seeds in boiling water for 5 min.Drain the water.
  2. In a pan, heat 4-5 tsp oil , add mustard seeds , once it starts spluttering , add urd dal and fry it until it turns golden brown.
  3. Roast chilly with two drops of oil.
  4. Grind padavalakayi beeja or snake guard seeds,fried mustard and urd dal with oil,roasted chillies and salt to taste into fine paste.
  5. This chutney tastes awesome with hot rice and ghee and it is good for digestion also.
